Income tax

Policy proposal: America should flatten progressive income tax rates for middle and upper class Americans as much as possible to preserve federal revenue flows, and/or to gradually limit federal spending. Goals of flattening the distribution of income in America should be addressed with economic growth and social welfare policies; there is no logical link between a desire to help the poor through public policy and the imposition of higher income tax rates on the rich. America can and should address income inequality by enhancing incomes, not building reverse income inequality into the tax code.

Welfare/Negative Income Tax

Policy proposal: America's numerous welfare and public assistance programs should be replaced with a single direct tax subsidy to America's poor representing a basic income for all Americans. The subsidy should be constantly adjustable in light of macroeconomic factors such as regional cost of living, and crafted to strike the delicate balance between preserving humanitarianism and discouraging unemployment. It should also require positive effort, initiative, and parenting competence. As income rises, the subsidy should be reduced pari passu, also ensuring that lower-middle class Americans also receive the income support they need.
